WATCH – Rubberbandits’ Blindboy gives Pieta House a shoutout in this new video

Ellen Tannam

Rubberbandits have consistently given a voice to the generation of young people in Ireland that feel let down and hard done by the country.

As mental health advocates, comedians and social commentators, they influence many in the country and are always using their audience to put the spotlight on important causes.

This video posted on their Facebook page last night is no different. In the (totally unofficial) video, lead vocalist Blindboy Boatclub asks their fans to donate two euro to Pieta House, a brilliant organisation that has saved countless lives.

Blindoby reckoned if everyone who lieks their page donated, that could provide 720 people in Ireland with 12 free counselling sessions.

He was also not shy about discussing how he suffered from anxiety and depression as a teenager- ‘I couldn’t open a can of Fanta without having a panic attack’, he said that the counselling he received has given him tools for the rest of his life to deal with anxiety, stress and panic.

Blindboy also gave the organisation’s Darkness Into Light run a shoutout, which you can learn more about here.
