It has its down sides, but social media can be extremely powerful if harnessed properly.
An Indian organisation called Love Doctor is attempting to do just that, and is encouraging people to use Snapchat to safely report domestic violence.
The idea behind the @lovedoctordotin account is that victims can report abuse without fear of their snaps being saved or tracked.
They respond to any questions about abuse and offer proper counselling to those who are suffering.
Currently aimed towards people in India, Canada and the US, we think an account like this in Ireland would be a fantastic idea.
