The family of brave little Gavin Glynn have shared the happy news that his US surgery has been a success.
The four-year-old from Wicklow suffers from a rare condition known as Rhabdomyosarcoma, and is currently recovering from a surgery carried out in Houston, Texas after a successful fundraising campaign raised €350,000, allowing the family to travel.
Early this morning Gavin's parents took to Facebook to share the happy news that "The amazing surgeon Dr Hayes Jordan and her team were able to remove both tumors from Gavin's pelvis and also preform the HIPEC treatment as planned".
John and Jayne added that they had been led to believe that Gavin's bladder and colon would have to be removed and he would have two permanent bags, but the experts surgeons were actually able to complete the procedure "without touching" the child's bladder and colon.
"We really believe what has happened today is a miracle and it is down to everyone's prayers and positive thoughts being answered for Gavin and the medical team involved, for that we cannot thank everyone enough."
