During a stop-off in Vancouver, the man queried with the pilot as to what had happened,
"I had to stay behind and talk to the pilot, it's called a spinner bolt and there's 12 of them around.
Update: saw the pilot again in the airport, says Bombardier has never seen this happen before. They figure the bolt must have been struck by the prop after dislodging since the rpms of the spinner itself isn't high enough to launch it that hard at the window. The bolt would have just been sucked into the slip stream[sic]".
The pilot admitted that in his 25 years of flying, he had never heard of this ever happening.
After the three-hour long layover, the gent had to get back on the small plane to complete his journey so he made sure to get a few alcoholic beverages into his system before boarding again.
We've always wondered if the safety glass done exactly what it was suppose to, turns out it does. *Breathes a sigh of relief*
We just hope the left phalange was in tact... (Any excuse to play this clip again).
