Tony Heffernan spoke to us about the BUMBLEance Megapush
He added: "There's a really good sense of community and everybody relates to this cause. It's great to see and we're just hoping that that support will continue with five days to go".
Volunteers are encouraged to join the BUMBLEance team as they head towards Dublin alongside well known personalities including Miriam O’ Callaghan, Matt Cooper and Nuala Carey.
Tony said that the biggest challenge thus far has been getting people to help push the bus and urges anyone who can to get on board: "We need a lot of help and we'd love it if more people can get involved. If there is anyone who does want to get involved, they can email us on [email protected] or call us on 083 0044 4444."
If you can't get involved physically, it's also possible to donate €4 to BUMBLEance by texting the word BUZZ to 50300.
Aboard the BUMBLEance.
As well as providing a vital ambulance service, BUMBLEance also provides "angel trips". An angel trip refers to the final journey a sick child and their parents take together on earth before the child grows his or her angel wings.
Speaking about the angel trips, adventurer Mike O' Shea, an avid supporter of BUMBLEance said: "We need to support this project to help young children here in Ireland, many who will only have a short experience of life as we understand it. All funds raised will go towards the purchase of a new ambulance, and two if we can make it happen."
But there is still a lot more to do as Tony explained: "We just need everyone to get out and help us. We need to get this done. We need a second ambulance. We've had to turn people away in the past which isn't a nice thing."
BUMBLEance is a non-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring that the journey of a sick child who needs ambulance transportation to and from a treatment centre and their home is the most comfortable journey possible.
And don't forget to donate €4 to the BUMBLEance Megapush. All you have to do is text the word BUZZ to 50300. To learn more about the Bumbleance Megapush, check out their Facebook, Twitter or the website. Are saunas actually good for you? Here’s what experts have to say
