We’ve Met The Humans Of Dublin, Now Let’s Meet The Others

Ciara Knight

Non-humans have been silenced for too long.

We’ve all been moved by Humans Of New York, but what about the non-humans? Surely they deserve a voice or overactive imagination to get their stores across?

Not to worry, I’m on it.

John, 37, can’t stand sports. He’s been at every match in Croke Park since the beginning of time, despite his complete disinterest in the proceedings. His roommate, Joe, keeps bringing him and John is simply too polite to refuse the offer. They’ve been best friends since primary school, although they’re very different. John likes to read and travel, while Joe is sports mad. “It’s a sign of our friendship, if you’ll pardon the pun”, said John.

Tina is a bit ditsy, by her own admission. She says her head is in the clouds half the time, but that doesn’t stop her from being a bit of a daredevil. You’d think coming it at 120m tall, she’d be wiping the floor with every basketball player in the country, but Tina steers clear of competitive sports. Instead, she loves cooking and aspires to be as successful as chefs like as Rachel Allen, Donal Skehan and Mary Berry. Tina hopes to bring out her own cookery book called ‘INSPIRED’, next year.

This is Milo, he’s 21 and loves S Club Juniors. He’s a lawyer and specialises in Millennial Law. Life wasn’t always on track for Milo, he’s had his fair share of difficulties to overcome. Between a broken leg and a crippling addiction to prescription medication, Milo is happy to have come out the other side. It almost cost him everything: his family, his career as a lawyer and his favourite chew toy called Barney. In terms of the future, Milo is looking forward to the next series of How To Get Away With Murder and hopes Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album will see the light of day in 2016.

Meet Siobhán. You might recognise her because believe it or not, she’s a Luas! The 11-year-old is a real people person and loves spending time with friends at Omni. Her pet peeve is chewing gum – Siobhán can’t stand it and hopes it becomes extinct like the City Imp. Siobhán is currently training to become an airline pilot, as she’s obsessed with transport and wants to bring her services to new heights.

Samuel is a bridge, but he doesn’t want to be defined by that. He’s a real sensitive soul, who writes poetry and composes alternate film scores, then sends them to the directors via USB. His love of film comes from being a very retrospective person. All day he watches people rushing across him, never taking in the beauty around them. For 2016, Sam hopes to combine his music and poetry into a short documentary, which he will then advertise on a poster and stick one on his Samuel Beckett Fridge.

Jennifer, also known as Tesco Baggot Street, just wants to be loved. She supplies endless bags for life, but can’t seem to secure herself a man for life. She’s bubbly, friendly, open and kind. Her favourite thing to do is clean the house – what a divil. Jen comes from a big family, which stretches across to the Uk and beyond. She’s essentially using this Non-Humans Of Dublin opportunity to bag herself a man, but we’ll allow it. Get in touch!
