We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: here at Her.ie towers we love dogs and this amazing story from the States has made us love them even more (if that’s even possible).
The Huffington Post reports that a Goldendoodle named ‘Louie the Leaper’ is being hailed as a hero after he saved the life of his pregnant owner.
Janelle Giannetta, Louie’s owner, was 26 weeks pregnant when she had a turn and suffered a seriously life-threatening seizure in her home.
Richard, Janelle’s husband, said that Louie is not typically a barker so when he heard the dog barking non-stop from the bedroom where his wife was resting, he went to see what the problem was.
“I heard the dog barking like crazy, like I’ve never heard him bark before,” said Richard.
Richard found Louie on the bed with Janelle, who was seizing and foaming at the mouth. He immediately rang 911 and his wife was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with eclampsia.
Janelle had to have an emergency C-section but the good news is both Janelle and her baby pulled through, all thanks to Louie.

“In my opinion, the dog is the real hear,” said Dr. Peter Hong, who treated Janelle when she arrived in the emergency room.
“If not for the dog’s barking, she could have had one seizure after another, after another… and she would have gotten care a lot later, and that would have made my job much harder,” he added.
“Whatever he wants he can have,” said Richard, speaking about Louie.
We imagine that’s one dog who is going to be absolutely spoiled rotten for the rest of his life (and deservedly so!).
