We’re still months away from the next series of The X Factor, but there are already big plans for a radical revamp of the reality TV show.
The biggest change?
Bosses are believed to be considering the idea of allowing fans to vote for their favourite acts via Twitter.
“Fans would have to follow the @TheXFactor feed, which would in turn follow them, and send a direct message each week for who they want to stay in,” a source tells The Sun.
Direct messages are good, at least we won’t have people spamming our feeds with the names of people we’ll probably never hear of again.
“Obviously, there is currently no way of charging for this so that could create a problem,” the insider adds. “Twitter voting may well work in America but there are a lot of obstacles to stopping it from being a realistic proposition in the UK.”
Somehow we’re finding it tough to imagine Moneybags Cowell being happy to lose the pots of cash earned from the millions of phone votes each week...
