2) You MUST have a drink in each establishment... but chances are, you won't.
The whole raison d'etre of the 12 Pubs is that you have a drink in each of the establishments but unless you're incredibly organised and have an outstanding tolerance for alcohol, you probably won't make it to the end.
3) There's no shame in having a second drink if you have a cosy seat
It's freezin' outside and the craic is 90 - sure, where would you be going?
4) Only complete amateurs wear heels
Think about it. Half the night will be spent walking and that will be even challenging in flats by the time you get to Pub Number Nine. You'll be in your bare feet by 11 am if you wear those heels, trust us.
5) Eating ain't cheating
This is wise advice on any night out but on an occasion where you're expecting to consume 12 alcoholic beverages, it's gospel. Bonus points if you stop for a sneaky cheeseburger en route.
6) Always carry cash
While the local nightclub might take your Visa, many of the typical destinations for 12 Pubs pride themselves on refusing to move with the times. Don't get stuck when it comes to your round, hit the ATM before you head out and leave that credit card at home!
7) Prepare for the elements
It sounds obvious, but it's going to be bloody freezing and probably raining/snowing as well. Bring a coat...and an umbrella... and a hat... and gloves... and maybe thermal underpants.
8) Don't forget your festive cheer
Someone will sneak home early, someone will probably overdo the Baileys and become incredibly annoying but the 12 Pubs is all about spending time with good friends and celebrating the amazingness that it Christmas so don't let the drama take over!
