Ladies, what are your views on, ahem, adult websites? Would you go mental if you found out that your man was visiting them on a regular basis? According to reports today, adult dating sites and internet porn are causing more and more married Irish couples to split up.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that divorce in Ireland has skyrocketed by an eye-watering 150 per cent in the past ten years. This means that since divorce laws came into effect in Ireland back in 1995, a grand total of 87,770 married couples have split up and gone their separate ways.
And the biggest cause of these splits? Well, according to Relationships Ireland, most of them are caused by one partner straying on the internet by visiting adult dating websites or looking at illicit movies online.
“I think if two people are single and are very clear about what they are on these sites for, then that is fair enough. The problems arise when married people are using these sites for the easy access to meeting other people behind their spouse’s back and possibly having sex with strangers,” said Lisa O’Hara, a counsellor with Relationships Ireland.
“This will obviously have a devastating impact on that marriage, especially if the person being cheated on discovers on their computer what their partner has been up to,” she added.

Adult dating websites are being cited as the cause for most divorces in Ireland.
Miss O’Hara said that she believes developing an addiction to being online is also dangerous territory for a married person.
“We are seeing more and more people developing online addictions and the easy access to porn on the net has made this very prevalent,” she said.
