Michelle Collins is leaving the Rovers Return behind her as it is revealed she is the latest star to say goodbye to Coronation Street.
The actress, who has played pub landlady Stella Price for more than two years, has apparently decided not to renew her contract which expires in April.
Michelle Collins will finish up with the soap next April.
A source told The Sun newspaper that her departure is the last thing show bosses need: “Corrie will have pulled out all the stops to try to keep Michelle as she is one of their biggest stars.
“It’s a real blow losing her and it will be incredibly tough and expensive to replace her. They wanted her to stay for a lot longer – and this news really couldn’t have come at a worse time.”
The actress has played the role of Stella Price since 2011.
Michelle’s exit comes only a matter of days after Chris Fountain (Tommy Duckworth) was axed for his rap video scandal.
Other popular characters heading for the door include Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) and Sue Johnston (Gloria Price).
