While one of Ireland’s former Eurovision representatives was busy prepping for a longed-for moment in the spotlight yesterday morning, we’re guessing another could have done without the attention he was getting…
We’ve all seen Linda Martin taking on the song of the summer, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky on the Saturday Night Show, (or if you haven’t, you can see it here), but while Linda was getting ready for her big performance, another member of the Irish Eurovision alumni was making a special appearance too. Except this time, it was in a courtroom.
According to RTÉ, eight people, including former Eurovision singer, Chris Doran, were brought to a special sitting of Carrick-on-Suir District Court on Saturday evening following a row on a street in the town on Friday morning.

Doran, from Tramore, won ‘You’re A Star’ in 2004 and represented Ireland in Istanbul that year with the Brian McFadden penned track ‘If My World Stopped Turning’. He faces a charge of violence or threatening to use violence, the same charge faced by seven other men involved.
He was remanded on bail on his own bond of €500 and is due back in court on 4 July.
