If you’re planning to head to Longitude this weekend, you might want to make sure the wellies are ready.

Met Éireann has released its forecast for the coming weekend and conditions are set to be unsettled to say the least.

Experts are predicting that Friday will start mainly dry and sunny in eastern areas but showers in the west will become widespread through the day, with frequent heavy showers occurring in the west and northwest.

Overall, it will be a “very windy day” with strong west to southwest winds gusting to gale force and temperatures will be “rather cool” between 14 and 17 degrees Celsius.

Saturday will be moderately breezy and showery with some sunny intervals but it is set to remain cool so make sure to bring plenty of layers if you’re heading to Marlay Park for Longitude Festival. Showers are expected to die out on Saturday night but scattered outbreaks of rain will appear later.

“Sunday will soon become wet countrywide for the morning and most of the afternoon, although rain will begin to clear eastwards in the evening. winds will be moderate, southwesterly on Sunday and temperatures will stay a few degrees below normal,” said a spokesperson for Met Éireann.
