Woman Discovers She Is Pregnant The Day Before Husband’s Funeral, After Trying To Conceive For Seven Years

Kristy Kirchner made the heartbreaking discovery that she was pregnant just one day before her husband’s funeral. On October 8th, Kristy lost her beloved husband Royce after he was involved in a tragic car accident minutes from their home in Central Queensland, Australia. He died instantly. The couple had just celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary in September and had been trying to conceive since tying the knot. Kristy, who had been saving for IVF treatment for more than three years, documented the pair’s journey through a YouTube account titled 'ConceiveABaby'. Unable to rest on the eve of her husband’s funeral, Kristy took a pregnancy test which turned out positive. Kristy had her first cycle of IVF treatment just five days before the accident and broke the news to family and friends during a touching eulogy for Royce. Kristy posted this touching image to her Instagram account, writing: "The moment you wake from a nightmare and it's true... 3:30am in Australia, been awake for the last hour. Decided to take a pregnancy test to feel better. Picked up my husband from the funeral parlour today. Isn't his urn beautiful? It matches his wedding ring... Love you forever babe, After much deliberation I have decided I have to stay here for baby Pacey, so please protect us from up above my sweetheart xoxox missing your affection, would really like a belly rub right now and a kiss... [sic]". A fortnight before the 35-year-old’s passing, the couple cancelled Royce’s life insurance and Kristy left her job in order to concentrate on the treatment. A GoFundMe page was set up to help the mum-to-be pay her mortgage. To date the total sum raised is over €12,000. Kristy's first scan at just seven weeks. In an Instagram post, Kristy thanked people for their support and donations: "This. Is. Amazing! Thankyou so much everyone for raising such a huge amount to help ease the situation I have been faced with, and for caring for me enough to be so kind [sic]."
