Woman gives birth during a flight – names her baby after the airline

This is one way to name your baby!

Cathy Donohue

Welcome to the world, baby Saw Jet Star.

Saw was born during a three-hour Jetstar flight from Singapore to Yangon, Myanmar and so his mother decided it would be fitting to name him after the airline.

It might seem like a crazy gesture but given that the family name is Star it isn’t THAT much of a leap.

According to Straits Times, a Singapore-based publication, the plan was almost due to land when Saw’s mother, who hails from Myanmar, began to suffer from stomach cramps.

Thankfully, there were three doctors on board and together with the crew, the newborn was delivered safely.

Immediately after landing, both mother and son were taken to hospital for check-ups and have since been discharged.

Jetstar announced the news via their Facebook page and said that they would donate SGD1,000 worth of baby supplies to the family as a thank-you.

The airline’s policy allows women who are 40 weeks pregnant to travel on flights under four hours but mothers over 28 weeks pregnant are required to provide a letter from their doctor which says they are fit to fly.
