NOOOOOOO.

IMAGINE.

If you’re engaged or married or even thinking it might happen down the line, you might agree with us in saying losing your beloved ring would be an absolute nightmare.

Missouri native, Carla Squiteiri left her diamond engagement ring, all twelve and a half carats of it, wrapped in paper towels, beside the kitchen sink while cleaning last Sunday.

According to ABC News, her husband Bernie came along and dumped the napkins and later the rubbish was taken away to the dump.

After collecting their children, Carla returned home and began to panic when she couldn’t find her ring.

It wasn’t long before they figured out what had happened and contacted Meridian Waste Sevices who said the truck which had collected their rubbish was headed to a radioactive landfill.

We imagine Carla’s face looked something like this…

Thankfully, Bernie managed to convince the company to stop so that he and Carla could search for the ring.

Speaking to the news site, Bernie mentioned how much rubbish there was (10 tonnes in total) and that it was nothing short of a miracle that they managed to find the ring.

The man who deserves the credit for finding the ring is Joe Evans, operations manager for Meridian Waste and he said he was happy to help out.

We imagine poor Bernie still isn’t right…
