Retired nurse Holly Christensen is the brains behind a fantastic project helping children with cancer.
The idea came to her when her friend’s three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with lymphoma last year.
Speaking to Babble, Holly explained why she started the volunteer-led Magic Yarn Project: “I knew Lily would be going through a difficult time, and that no one would be able to take her suffering away.
“I also knew that losing her long, curly blonde hair at not even three years old would be difficult for her, so I figured that the yarn wig could help bring a little magic and fun to a difficult time in her life.”
Lily loved her Rapunzel wig and so Holly decided to “start making these princess wigs and sending them to cancer centers around the country.
Each wig is made of extra-soft wool to protect the scalp area which can be sensitive as a result of chemotherapy treatment.
Holly, a retired oncology nurse and mother of three, and her friend Bree Hitchcock teamed up to get the project off the ground and now, they deliver the wigs to hospitals and families all over America.
ALL of the feels people. All of the feels.
