Woman Posts Viral Message Asking Others To Think Before They Speak (And Body Shame)

This is one pretty powerful message.

Unfortunately people can be cruel and heartless without trying.

Last week, one woman was out shopping for an outfit to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, when she overheard a conversation between a mother and daughter.

Rachel Taylor was shopping with her husband when her attention turned to the pair laughing.

Holding up a top, Rachel writes in a post online:

‘The girl picked up a plus-size tank top, showed it to her mom and said, ‘Look! Me and So-and-so can fit in this tank top!’ Her mom laughed and said, ‘Yeah, you could! That thing is huge!’’

Rachel burst into tears at the conversation, noting that the plus-size top was actually in her size.

She continued:

‘I couldn’t help it; I started crying. I guess the girl and her mom walked away. I have no idea. My husband walked me out of the store to the car.’

After a few minutes in the car, Rachel decided to march back into the shop’s changing room, and tried on the tank top that had been the source of ridicule.

In a selfie posted to the Old Navy Facebook page, Rachel wrote:

‘I ended up buying that tank top because, it turns out, I look fierce in it!’

She headed straight for the changing room with one idea in mind.

Posting her story to Facebook, and sharing it with the Old Navy page, she thanked the store for stocking sizes accessible to everyone before urging people to think before they speak.

Old Navy, thank you for having adorable clothes for all shapes & sizes. I’d like to tell you the story behind this tank…

Signing off the message, Rachel wrote:

‘Be kind. Think about others before you speak. And if someone hurts you, you have to move on.’
