Woman reveals why her dad wore the same shirt for 20 years

Twenty years ago, Twitter user Ria's dad wore a green polo shirt with a yellow collar.

Two decades later, Ria's dad is still wearing that same green polo. The 22-year-old didn't know the reason behind her dad's shirt-choices before she paid a visit to her late grandfather's house. It was there that Ria discovered a photo of her dad and mum on their honeymoon - he in his green polo with the yellow collar, she in her yellow polo with a green collar. "Even if there was a hole he would sew it by hand himself.

He wears it for any special occasion, be it a work study event or a trip out with the family."

She added that her dad never remarried after the death of his wife, and that over the years, she and her brother would always laugh whenever he decided to wear the "ragged" shirt. Ria's followers have been quick to respond to her series of tweets, with some saying that the story was making them cry. However, Ria remained only delighted that her followers were paying so much attention to her tweet thread that had originally begun with a few photos of her dad in a "battered" old polo shirt.
