She's seeking compensation for negligence and emotional distress.

A woman in the US is seeking a big sum, claiming an air hostess deliberately ruined her wedding dress.

Yewande Oteh from Boston was travelling from the States to her her native Jamaica with her wedding dress.

She says she was told by American Airlines that she could hang the dress in a cupboard during the flight, but that when she got on to the plane, an air hostess would not allow her to use the cupboard, reports the Daily Mail.

Oteh claims that the air hostess, Melanie Masters, “became indignant and agitated, and began to talk to plaintiff in a hostile aggressive way, instructing her that the closet space was not for passengers,” according to court documents.

The dress was stored in an overhead bin and when it was retrieved after the flight, it was reportedly soaked through with red wine.

Oteh says she saw Masters open the bin “with her right hand while something was occupying her left hand.”

She’s suing American Airlines for $3.4 million (around €2.9 million) for “a lifetime of damage.”

She says she suffered physical illness and emotional pain including diarrhea, dehydration and depressive symptoms after the incident.

Her claims include Negligence, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress and Negligent Hiriing and Negligent Retention.
