Woman Who Sparked Outrage Online After Duct-Taping Her Dog Is Facing Jail Time

Police in the United States have tracked down and charged a woman who taped her dog's mouth shut and posted it to Facebook. The picture, which showed her chocolate labrador with duct tape around his mouth, quickly went viral on the social media site and sparked outrage among users. She captioned the photo: “This is what happens when you don’t shut up!!!” The photo was shared more than 30,000 times before being deleted and replaced with another post saying the dog's mouth had only been taped shut for a minute. The South Daytona Police Department, Florida have now confirmed that the woman, who went under the alias of Katie Brown, has been charged in relation to the incident. Officials reported that the dog is fine and has no sign of physical injury. The woman faces a fine and could face up to 150 days of jail time.
