A Chinese woman, Lin Yingying, who suffered a severe head injury in 2014 and was in a coma for 6 months has revealed it was her boyfriend who inflicted the damage that left her in a vegetative state.
Liu Fenghe from Dalian in China reportedly spent almost €30,000 (HKD 240,000) on medical treatment for his girlfriend and had vowed to take care of her for the rest of his life, according to the South China Morning Post.
Liu had objected to his girlfriend’s family visiting, but they succeeded in bringing her home until she regained consciousness in May 2015.
It was in May that she revealed her injury was caused by her boyfriend because she had accidentally burned some bread in the bakery the couple ran, and the abuse was not an isolated incident.
Her father encouraged her to report the crime; “You have died once, what more are you afraid of? It’s time to confront reality.”
Lin’s father has since reported the matter to the police.
