The countdown is officially on to the end of the National Football League and despite the fact that the majority of play-off positions have already been decided,  this weekend’s fixtures certainly don’t disappoint. One of the games to watch is the Division 1 clash between Kerry and Monaghan. The two are level on 12 points apiece and will be pushing for victory in the hopes of guaranteeing their passage into the next round. Meanwhile Mayo and Galway go head-to-head and despite the fact that Mayo are out of the running for the knock-out stages of the league a showdown between the two neighbours is always a good one. A repeat of last year’s Division 1 final sees Cork and Dublin face off in CIT in what is also another hugely-anticipated game. It’s a must-win game for Dublin who will need victory in order to progress to the knock out stages. Tyrone will face off to Laois in what is set to be an extremely competitive relegation battle – with a winner takes all result. In Division 2, Armagh will take on Down with the home side looking to be firm favourites for this tie. Elsewhere, Clare and Kildare go head-to-head in a fixture that has little at stake but should be a good test before the championship. Westmeath will travel to Donegal with both sides safe in the knowledge of a place in the knock-out stages of the competition. This will be an interesting fixture, but table toppers Donegal would be favourites to win. Cavan are also hoping to continue their unbeaten run and will face off to Meath. Indeed, if both Cavan and Donegal win, and as their head-to-head match finished at 2-10 apiece, a play-off will be required to see who finishes in first place. When that is decided, first place will play fourth, while second and third will play off in another semi-final. On to Division 3, and Longford and Tipperary will play off in a straight relegation game. Roscommon and Wexford will also do battle, with Roscommon through to the semi-final stages of the competition. Meanwhile, the game of the division will be the top of the table battle between Leitrim and Waterford, while Fermanagh and Sligo will also do battle this Sunday.
