A teenager in China has reportedly chopped off his hand in a bid to ‘cure’ his internet addiction.
The 19-year-old from Nantong was rushed to hospital this week after he cut off his hand from the wrist with a kitchen knife.
According to Jiangsu TV, the teenager, who has been identified only as ‘Little Wang’ reportedly left a note for his parents to tell them what he was doing.
“Mum. I have gone to hospital for a while,” it read.
Speaking after the incident his mother stated, “We cannot accept what has happened. It was completely out of the blue. He was a smart boy."
Surgeons at the hospital managed to reattach his hand but they have not guaranteed that he will regain full mobility.
