X Factor bosses are said to be concerned that contestant Andrea Faustini will not be able to perform in this week's show, after he barracaded himself in a hotel room for 12 hours.
The Italian singer had been tipped as favourite to win the reality show but found himself in the bottom two with Stevi Richie in last week's elimination.
The judges voted to save Faustini and put him through to the next round but it's believed that the pressure of the competition is getting to the 20-year-old, who broke down in tears and locked himself in a hotel room with his sister Elena for 12 hours after the show.
According to OK! Magazine, worried staff banged on the door for several hours before Faustini finally emerged.
"Andrea was riding high and had an awfully long way to fall," said a source.
Following last week's show, Andrea has now been overtaken by Fleur East and Ben Haenow in the betting, with the two contestants at 10/11 and 7/2 respectively to win the competition.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's act Lauren Platt is favourite to be eliminated this weekend.
