We're pretty talented at telling little white lies here in Ireland. Some we like to tell ourselves, and others we offer up to the lucky people around us. Take the most simple question in the world, for example: "How are you?" Our stock answer, no matter what kind of catastrophic, life-altering event may have just taken place in our lives, is always: "Ah yeah, I'm grand." We like to pretend that they're not a big deal because they're only little lies and sure, we aren't hurting anybody. Here are ten of our favourites little white lies... 1. "I'll just go out for one." Famous last words. 2. "I'm five minutes away." No, you're not. You haven't even left the house yet. 3. "I'll just watch one more episode." Seriously? 4. "Ah, I just got your message." 5. "I'll just have one slice of pizza." Sure you will. 6. "Yes Mam, I have paid my credit card bill." Have you, though? Have you really? 7. "I know, I love that band too." Yep, you've no idea what they're talking about. 8. "Yeah, I love my present." It's exactly what you would have picked yourself, isn't it? 9. "I'd love to go out tonight, I'm just not feeling great."  You actually just want to wake up the next day without a hangover. 10. "Your baby is so cute." This one's just a no-brainer.
