If you’ve ever been to America or even looked into going then you’ll know that prices of flights can be very expensive. It doesn’t really matter where you go, it still can set you back a good bit.

But that could be about to change if you’re looking to fly to Boston.

Really cheap flights from Cork to Boston could be on the cards in the future as flight company, Norwegian Air, has plans to implement a new transatlantic flight.

They’ve said that they will have flights from March 2017 which will cost just $69/€62. That’s nearly cheaper than a train ticket from Dublin to Cork.

According to The Independent, Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Ramdahl, said, “I can promise you that you will see transatlantic flights on the 737 Max next year. And that’s when you will see the $69 fares.”

A Norwegian Air representative added, “However, not only are we are committed to launching the first transatlantic flights from Cork as soon as we’re able, we’re also determined to make them as affordable as possible.”

While Niall McCarthy, Cork Airport’s Managing Director, said, “At this stage, I’m not expecting any decision until after the US Presidential Election in November. Having already had to cancel slots it had booked with ourselves and Boston in May and October, Norwegian has now booked slots for March 2017, which is the earliest the new transatlantic services can take off.”
