The photo of Daniel Cabrera, doing his homework by the light of a McDonald’s outlet has gone viral and now the Filipino boy will get to fulfill his dreams.

His mother, Christina Espinosa, spoke to AFP and said that her son has been gifted school supplies, money donations and there is also talk of a college scholarship.

“We’re overjoyed. I don’t know what I will do with all of these blessings. Now, Daniel will not have to suffer just to finish his studies” the 42-year-old told the publication.

Christina and her three youngest children have been living in the grocery store where she works since their shanty home was burnt to the ground five years ago.

Her husband died from severe diarrhoea in 2013 and she has three older children who are all married and living separately.

“He is a very studious and determined boy… He would insist on going to school even without his lunch money because I have no money to give,” Christina said.

“He always tells me: ‘Mama, I don’t want to stay poor. I want to reach my dreams”.

The photo of Daniel was taken by Joyce Torrefranca and posted to Facebook where it was shared in excess of 7,000 times.
