Zadie Smith and Hilary Mantel are just two of the authors to be shortlisted for this year’s Women’s Prize for Fiction.
The award, formerly known as the Orange Prize for Fiction, celebrates the work of female writers from all over the world.
The shortlist was announced this morning.
And while this year’s shortlist doesn’t include any Irish authors, there are a few familiar names in with a chance of taking home the prize on June 5th.
These include previous winner Zadie Smith as well as Hilary Mantel whose latest novel won the Man Booker prize last year and was crowned Costa Book of the Year in January.
Hilary Mantel could be adding another award to her name.
The full shortlist is as follows: Life After Life (Kate Atkinson); May We Be Forgiven (A.M Holmes); Flight Behaviour (Barbara Kingsolver); Bring Up the Bodies (Hilary Mantel); Where’d You Go, Bernadette (Maria Semple); and NW (Zadie Smith).
