Irish motorists are being warned to take extra care on the road tonight as temperatures are expected to plummet.
According to forecasts, motorists should expect black ice on Irish roads tonight.
Roads in sheltered areas are expected to be particularly bad and it has been predicted that higher ground in Dublin and Wicklow will be the worst affected.
Temperatures will reportedly fall as low as -3 degrees Celsius, with some areas dropping to -4.
Mullingar, Co. Westmeath hit one of the more extreme lows in the country in recent weeks, dropping to -6.5 degrees overnight.
Back to tonight though, and it is expected to be a dry night following showery spells throughout the day. However, forecasters are warning that the rain will not have time to clear before the dip in temperatures which could result in dangerous road conditions.
Meanwhile the ice and fog should clear on Sunday morning, giving way to a cool sunny day.
