Billie Eilish makes history as youngest female solo-artist to secure #1 album in the UK

All the good girls go to hell.

Or to the top of the album charts, whichever.

Billie Eilish has made history this week after becoming the youngest female solo-artist to secure a number one album in the UK charts.

The 17-year-old (yes, 17) nabbed the number one spot with a fair amount of ease following the instant success of her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Featuring tracks as such ‘bury a friend,’ ‘when the party’s over,’ and ‘bad guy,’ the teenager has successfully secured her place as one of pop music’s most important artists today.

Her debut skyrocketed her to the top of the UK album chart, making her the youngest female solo-artist to achieve such a position.

Before this, Joss Stone held the title having been 17 years and five months old when her debut album Mind Body & Soul hit stores.

Eilish is just 17 years and three months old, but both artists still remain the only women to secure a number one slot before reaching the age of 18.

Impressive.

American-born Eilish began her career as a singer-songwriter back in 2013 at aged 11.

She released her debut single ‘Ocean Eyes’ on SoundCloud three years later and quickly began amassing a solid following online.

Her first EP was released in 2017 and met with a largely positive response. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has since received universal acclaim.

Eilish will be performing at this year’s Electric Picnic between August 31 and September 1.
