Is the pop princess returning to the Super Bowl stage?

Rumours are rife that Britney Spears is being lined up to perform at next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The singer is reportedly in talks with television execs to perform at one of the most watched television events of the year.

And this won’t be Britney’s first time at the event. The 35-year-old performed back in 2001 alongside Aerosmith and NSYNC (throwback!).

A source has said that Britney has been very keen to return to the Super Bowl stage after the resurgence of her career.

“She has made it clear to her team that it is a dream to perform at a Super Bowl. She has the hits package and appeal to be a headliner,” they said.

Other rumours suggest that Britney could be just one of many big names to perform.

This would be a huge change from previous years where a headliner would invite guest artists to perform snippets of the set with them.

The Super Bowl usually takes place in February so we have a while to wait before we see the results of the ongoing discussions.
