Demi Lovato Admits Her Pre-MTV VMA Stage Fright Cure

The American singer said pumping out a few Nicki Minaj tunes seems to cure her pre-performance jitters.

Pre-stage nerves? What better way to calm the jitters than pump up a bit of Minaj on the stereo?

We thought a drop of Rescue Remedy would do the trick for the few nervous celebrities head of tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards, but American singer Demi Lovato claims listening to Nicki Minaj’s “grimy” music has her in the mood for tonight’s performance.

The 20-year-old songstress is singing at tonight’s red carpet pre-show. Demi said she likes to listen to certain music to calm her nerves before performing.

“What really pumps me up is 2 Chainz and Nicki Minaj, but not her pop stuff. Like, you know, the grimy stuff,” she said in an interview with MTV News.

The star also said she’s “making sure that I’m well-rested so I don’t look like a hag when I step out on stage to perform.”

Demi will turn to Nicki for advice…through the earphones.

Demi has performed live numerous times before, but admits that doesn’t make it any easier.

The star admitted what makes this show a bit more nerve-racking is that she will be surrounded by her favourite stars when she’s on the stage.

Immense pressure as vocal-belters Beyonce and Rihanna could be watching you from below…

“I’m really nervous to perform because there’s going to be a lot of celebrities walking the red carpet at the same time that I come out and perform, so not only do I want to do a good job because it’s on camera, but also there’s people that I really admire on the red carpet,” she explained.

“It’s kind of nerve-racking.”

We’d say it is Demi. Pump up a bit of ‘Pound The Alarm’, you’ll be ready for them…
