Ed Sheeran’s album X has been named as this year’s best-selling album so far according to the Official Charts Company.
The hit album, which was released in June, sold more than 180,000 copies in its first week and to date, has sold more than 634,000.
The record includes chart-topping hits such as Sing and Don’t and spent eight consecutive weeks at number one. It has also been certified as double platinum by the BPU.
Sheeran revealed that he was “so happy people have been enjoying my album so much.”
The singer beat off competition for top spot from Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour followed by Coldplay’s Ghost Stories in third.
