Want your favourite band to play in your town? Just organise a gig without telling them.
Well, that’s exactly what fans in Richmond, Virginia did when they set up an account on crowdfunding site Crowdhoster selling tickets for a Foo Fighters gig in the area.
The band themselves had no knowledge of the planned performance but over 1,400 fans still pledged to attend the gig after organisers posted a video to the site explaining that it was part of a campaign to attract the Foo Fighters back to the city after a 15 year absence.
The plan could very well have backfired but the rockers delighted organisers by confirming on Twitter they would attend the event.
