Fans of Foo Fighters have reached their Kickstarter funding target in a bid to get the band to play a gig in Birmingham.

The news broke yesterday when it was revealed that the £150,000 goal had been reached, despite there still being 54 days left until their November 17th closing date. A pledge of £50 was required to get a ticket for the gig.

A statement on the page revealed that the gig may take place in 2015 following the release of the band’s new album Sonic Highways.

The idea behind crowdfunding is to erase the threat of ticket touts taking tickets from fans.

Fans are hoping the band will include Birmingham in their 2015 tour.

“We are raising funds to produce a fan-funded show within the UK as part of the 2015 tour after the release of Foo Fighters’ album Sonic Highways,” read the statement.

“The aim is for this to be held in Birmingham UK, the venue could change depending on capacity restriction but will be clearly communicated to all backers prior to any changes.

“Every penny of this will be going into the project (minus any transaction fees and handling costs generated by creating the event).

“Every member of the team running the project will be doing so free of charge – this is a Not for Profit project.”
