There’s something very special about two gifted singers joining forces to make a magical piece of music. The world has been treated to endless brilliant duets over the years, and we’ve been listening to a lot of them over the past couple of days.

Inspired by the latest Galaxy ad featuring a brand spanking new Moon River duet from Donegal singer-songwriter, Chanele McGuinness and Bxnjamin, we’ve gathered seven of the all-time best duets.

1. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

This 1967 Motown classic is easily one of the most upbeat duets ever recorded, and the positivity of the record is infectious. It’s since been re-worked by dozens of other artists, but this is the original and the best.

2. Crazy In Love, Beyoncé & Jay-Z

Crazy In Love and its signature brass sample marked the bold arrival of a new solo pop queen, and we’ve been loving every minute of her sassy reign ever since. At the time of its release rumours about a romance between Bey and J were rife, and the single served to confirm the relationship in the best possible way. Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh no no

3. Time To Say Goodbye, Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman

First released back in 1996, Time To Say Goodbye has sold more than 12 million records worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. The love song reached the number one spot in the Irish charts in 1997, and it sounds just as good today as it did then.

4. Empire State Of Mind, Jay Z & Alicia Keys

Let’s hear it for New York! When this banging tune was released in 2009, it became not only an anthem for the Big Apple, but one all over the world. Alicia Keys’ vocals are impressive and the ode to the duo’s native city is a feel-good-classic. Concrete jungle where dreams are made of…

5. Fairytale of New York, The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl

“It was Christmas Eve, babe.”  The playing of this iconic duet on the radio marks the official start of every Christmas in Ireland. From the melodic opening piano chords, to the brilliant lyrics and contrast between the two singers, this song will forever be intrinsically linked with Christmas in Ireland, and we absolutely love it.
