The singer, who represented Ireland in the Eurovision back in 2005 with his sister Donna, featured on the X Factor this evening and his first song didn’t go down well with Simon at all.

“You’re a great singer but a horrible performer,” Simon said, and invited him to come back later on with another song, as he “wants to give him a shot”.

Joe, who got as far as Boot Camp in 2012, came back with I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston and earned a ‘yes’ from every judge for the performance.

“I need a pint after that,” he told hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack afterwards.

“I just want it back. I just want success. To me, it’s about achieving,” he told Radio Times before his audition.
