A 15-year-old girl has been arrested for allegedly selling explicit photos and videos of herself online.
According to The Mirror, police charged the girl for child pornography and operating her own illicit online business.
The teen suspect sold the images for more than a year, according to search warrant applications prepared by the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.
The girl had completed 20 transactions, netting more than $1,000 for her images.
Court documents outlined how the girl was discovered after she told family members that she had been producing the nude photographs of herself and selling them to strangers online. Relatives immediately told the girl’s mum – who contacted the police.
Speaking to Smoking Gun, Detective Matthew Batchelder explained that the teen would use a social media messaging tool Kik, to tell men she was “selling stuff”:
“Men would then contact her and ask what she was selling.
"She would then tell them that she would send them nude pictures and videos for a price,”
During police interviews, the teen said she believed she had made more than 15 illicit videos in the two months before police were contacted.
She also claimed that her customers knew she was underage, but she “couldn’t elaborate how they knew.”
