Antonia Lopez from Nebraska, allegedly killed her prematurely born baby by throwing it out a window.
The 16-year-old then immediately logged on to Facebook appealing for a “huge favour” from a friend with a car.
The status is still on Lopez’s Facebook page and now attracts comments from strangers hurling abuse at the teen.
In a press release, the Omaha Police Department said the pregnant 16-year-old went into labor and then threw the child out of a window after it was delivered.
According to ketv, Omaha Fire paramedics arrived, the baby’s grandmother was holding and administering CPR to an infant.
The child was brought to the hospital but died from the injuries sustained. The teen was taken to hospital for a medical evaluation.
Members of the girls family are stunned by the events.
“It’s caught me by surprise. I just can’t believe it. Stunned,” Her grandfather, John Barcelona, said.
Barcelona said that he had seen his granddaughter only days before.
“She looked like she was well underweight more than anything else, I would’ve never dreamed that she was pregnant,” Barcelona said. “In my head, I just can’t believe it, I can’t believe it.”
A neighbour, Mark Nelson also spoke to ketv.
“It makes me feel very disturbed,” he said.. “Just looked like a normal family, normal neighbors, say hi, keep to their self.”
The next hearing for Lopez is scheduled for Nov. 2nd.
Bail is set at $500,000.
