Throughout the afternoon and evening, there will be southwest to west winds that will reach speeds between 55 and 65 km/h - with gusts of up to 110 km/h possible.
Saturday is forecast to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and, although there will be drier intervals during the day, there will be a spell of persistent (and heavy) rain spreading from the west through the late afternoon and evening.
There will be fresh to strong, gusty west to northwest winds with temperatures of 9C to 12C degrees, the higher temperatures in the south of the country.
Met Éireann are forecasting a wet and windy start to Saturday night, with persistent or heavy rain and strong, gusty westerly winds.
Wintry showers will follow from the west overnight, with the lowest temperatures of -2C to 2C and frost and icy patches developing.
Sunday will be very cold with sunny spells and wintry showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow with a risk of thunder.
The temperatures will reach highs of 2C to 6C, with moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Frost and icy patches will develop overnight, with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.
