A new law is set to ban the resale of tickets over face-value and we are living

Don’t you just hate it when you are dying to buy tickets to see your favourite artist and the tickets you so desperately want sell out within minutes.

What’s even worse is when someone who was lucky enough to get tickets puts them back on sale for nearly double the price, and sometimes even more.

They have no interest in going to the concert, they just want to rip off die hard fans and make a profit on the tickets for themselves.

Well, if this annoys you just as much as it annoys us then we have good news for you.

A new law that has been approved by Cabinet will ban ticket-touting and *fingers crossed* stop individuals from reselling tickets above-face value for entertainment and sporting events.

The legislation will also forbid people to use bot-software to buy tickets in bulk.

This Anti-Ticket Touting Bill has been talked about in the Oireachtas Bills Office for over a year now. Minister for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation Heather Humphreys is keen to step in and take action.

Speaking about the bill, Humphreys said:

It’s “wrong that people who make no contribution to sport or music can profit from the resale of tickets for sell-out matches and shows.”

“In doing so, they deprive genuine fans of the opportunity to attend these events, and the time has come to put a stop to it.”

Ticket-touting has been a massive issue in Ireland for years.

It recently hit headlines when Ed Sheeran came to play shows in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast. Concert goers were told they had to bring ID with them to prove that they bought the tickets themselves from the official ticket provider.
