A woman in her 40s has died in a house fire in County Galway

Devastating news.

A woman in her forties has passed away in a house fire in Clifden, County Galway.

Gardaí have said that the alarm was raised at around 7pm last night, when a fire broke out at a house in Tullyvoheen.

Fire fighters and Gardaí were called to the scene, where the blaze was brought under control.

Sadly, a woman’s body was located in the home.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said:

“A woman believed to be in her late 40s has died following a house fire in Clifden, Co Galway.”

“The alarm was raised at approximately 7:00 pm when a fire broke out at a house in Tullyvoheen, Clifden. Gardaí and Fire Services attended at the scene.”

“The fire was brought under control a short time later when her body was located inside the house.”

“The scene is currently preserved for examination. Foul play is not suspected at this time.”
