Adam Johnson’s sister has penned a poem defending her brother, posting the words to an appeals page she has created on Facebook.

Faye Johnson regularly appeared in court alongside her brother, and created a Facebook page in an attempt to garner support for her brother.

The original page was shut down due to offensive comments about the 15-year old victim in the case, with reports claiming it was the ex-Sunderland player’s family or friends who created a second appeals page.

Writing a poem from her point of view, Faye posted:

The English footballer was found guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child and not guilty of another count of the same offence.

The former Sunderland footballer had pleaded guilty to grooming a 15-year-old girl and one charge of sexual activity with her, but denied two further charges of sexual activity with a child.

The charges relate to an incident in Johnson’s Range Rover on January 30, last year, after he met up with the girl in County Durham.

The 28-year-old admitting to kissing the teenager, but told the court that the encounter went no further.
