The revelation came as a surprise to many when she unveiled her baby bump during a performance at the Big Slick Kansas City event in June, just weeks before welcoming her first child in August.
Speaking with Christine Lampard on Lorraine, the 40-year-old chatted about her experience of navigating such a significant life event largely out of the public eye.
“I was trying to keep it a secret,” Bea confessed, before joking about being outsmarted by “one of those pesky kids.”
Bea reflected on the joy of holding onto a personal milestone before sharing it with the world.
“I think especially when a lot of your life is talked about in public, it’s nice to keep something a little bit precious to yourself,” she explained.
“It allows you to get your head around it and enjoy it privately before it becomes part of the public discourse.”
The comedian then went on to say that while there might be competitions to determine the “best baby” in the world, she and her boyfriend are the sole judges in this case.
“It turns out my baby’s actually the best thing in the world,” she quipped.
“And it was only voted by me and my boyfriend, but yeah, we’re really delighted with the award.”
Bea ended her segment with a heartfelt tribute to her new daughter, saying, “She’s the best that there’s ever been.”
