Andrew McGinley meets with HSE for inquest into wife’s care

The inquest is currently ongoing.

Andrew McGinley has reportedly met with the HSE to discuss the level of care his wife received as part of an inquest.

Mr McGinley tragically lost his three children – Conor (9), Darragh (7) and Carla (3) in January 2020. Last year, their mother Deirdre Morley was found not guilty by reason of insanity for their murder. She has since been committed to the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum, Dublin.

Now, as the Irish Independent reports, Mr McGinley has met with representatives from the HSE to discuss the level of care she received prior to the murders.

The meeting forms part of a larger inquest into Ms Morley’s care. Both the McGinleys and the Morleys called for an investigation into the matter.

Previously, the father said that the action is not one he wants to be taking, but said that he just wants to understand why his children died.

Earlier this year, Ms Morley issued a medical negligence in the High Court against the HSE, St. Patrick’s hospital, and a consultant psychiatrist, in relation to her care.

Since losing his children, Mr McGilney has been sharing his experience with grief, and has been keeping Conor, Darragh and Carla’s memories alive.

In the past few years, the father launched separate initiatives in honour of his children – Conor’s Clips, As Darragh Did and A Snowman for Carla.

Conor’s Clips is a YouTube channel dedicated to his oldest son, as he had ambitions of becoming a YouTuber. Darragh, who had a passion for sports, is honoured through As Darragh Did, a sports initiative, and for Carla, he launched A Snowman for Carla as a colouring competition in his daughter’s memory.
