Baby rushed to hospital after fire breaks out at Limerick property

A blaze broke out at an apartment complex in Limerick

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Little Gerald Griffin Street at 1.08 am on Sunday, June 22nd.

The Limerick fire service, Gardaí, and paramedics rushed to the scene after being alerted in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a report by The Irish Mirror, the emergency services were on the scene by 1.11 am, just three minutes after being alerted.

The team worked quickly to control the Limerick blaze. The fire reportedly started in the basement of the apartment complex.

Smoke then entered the apartment of a couple and their infant. They were asleep at the time of the incident.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze by 1.21 am.

According to reports, many residents were checked for smoke inhalation at the scene.

An infant was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation, but their condition is not believed to be serious.

The infant was taken to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, but the cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
