A spokesperson for Channel 5 confirmed the news.

Big Brother contestant Ellis Hillon has been removed from the house following an investigation into a number of shocking historical tweets allegedly sent from her social media account.

The 19- year-old was one of the contestants that entered the famous Channel 5 house on Friday night. Screenshots of the messages that were allegedly written by her soon began to circulate.

The Mirror report that the messages in question include the n-word and are about the 9/11 attacks. The account that they were posted from, @EllisHillon, has since been deleted.

Rylan Clark-Neal announced the news of her departure from the show on Twitter this evening.

Big Brother also issued their own statement on the situation, writing:

“As a result of our investigation into offensive and unacceptable posts on social media, Ellis Hillon has been removed from the Big Brother House.”

Channel 5 announced on Friday that Big Brother – and Celebrity Big Brother – would be coming to an end after 18 years.

They said in a statement:

“The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.

“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.

“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.

“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years.

“We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”
