The comedian is currently facing charges of sexual assault, and his trial is set to begin in the coming weeks.

It’s been two years since Bill Cosby has spoken publicly about the allegations he’s facing. In an interview with Sirius XM, the 79-year-old has finally opened up about his impending trial. Speaking to host Michael Smerconish, the former TV star explained how he has no plans to testify for fear of what might happen in cross-examination:

“What people want to say, want you to say, and how they manoeuvre — yes, I do have lawyers to protect me, ‘objections,’ ‘sustained’ — but I just don’t want to sit there and have to figure out what I believe is a truthful answer as to whether or not I’m opening a can of something that … my lawyers are scrambling,” he said.

In the last few years over fifty women have come forward accusing Cosby of misconduct, many allege that the comedian drugged and assaulted them.

Recently Cosby’s daughters pointed to racism as a motivating factor behind the accusations, in the Sirus XM interview the host asked the comedian whether he agreed:

“Could be. Could be…I can’t say anything, but there are certain things that I look at and I apply to the situation, and there are so many tentacles.”

The trial will begin on June 5th.
