There was some good news for BUMBLEance today, with retail chain Lidl making a donation of €5,000 in response to the theft of medical equipment from children's charity .
The BUMBLEance, which transports sick children from their home to medical centres, was at the National Ploughing Championships on Thursday as part of a fundraising drive for a second ambulance.
However, when founder Tony Heffernan turned his back momentarily to take a call from the parents of a terminally ill child, thieves stole medical equipment worth €800 from the vehicle.
In the wake of the cruel raid, there has been an outpouring of support from the public and Lidl confirmed today that they would be donating €5,000 to the charity after being "shocked and saddened" by the news.
